This well-preserved 12th century structure is one of Ireland's earliest and largest castles. Built following the Norman Invasion, it includes such defense details as arrow slits and a "murder hole" for pouring boiling tar on enemies below. Today the castle features life-size replicas of historical figures. Educational films document details of daily life including mealtime, clothing, and games.
